A typical teenager, seventeen-year-old Reed Hennessy doesn’t realize how lucky he is to lead a normal life until he loses everything, including his humanity. The attacker who slaughters his family and destroys their home turns out to be a vampire, a creature Reed had considered a myth. Now a vampire himself, but with the unique ability to walk in sunlight, Reed struggles in the dark underworld he didn’t even know existed. His only two allies in his fight to stay alive are his reluctant mentor, Nathaniel, a vampire with over two hundred years’ worth of emotional baggage, and Sarah, a rookie cop with a secret ability of her own. Together, Reed and his companions face a harrowing, cross-country journey before stumbling into a plot which could mean the end of everything for humans and vampires alike.

I can ignore the weird relationship between the 17 year old and the early 20s cop. I guess the 17 year old is a vampire so the whole statutory issue isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things. What really bothered me was how the main character is meh through the whole book. Sure, he has a special ability, but it doesn't help when he gets half his body ripped off. Was a pretty good story, though.Product details

Welcome to the Darkness Darkness Trilogy Book One Volume 1 L M Justus Books Reviews
Even though I'm 66 years old and it's a teen novel, I really enjoyed this. The story moves along at a good pace, and there are a few surprising twists and turns. Very entertaining!
i want more book like this i am looking forward your next book author
great story and keep doing what you love to do
This book was good and flowed well. Great story too. Looking forward to read the second book. Highly suggested read.
While this was an engaging book the plot seemed to contrived to the point of being forced. I still enjoyed it, but finished in maybe four to five hours of reading.
This book is really original. It's definitely not just another run of the mill vampire story, and it will keep you entertained until the end. I look forward to the sequel.
Vampire / Paranormal / Fantasty books are not normally on my reading list, but his one will be a re-read, along with any sequels that follow! Interesting take on 'normal' vampire characteristics & behaviour, fabulous character development and engaging storyline. There is so much going on in this story, you never know where the next turn will take you. Nathaniel's view of the world was quite dry, and possibly predictable, but he ends up being a very complex guy.
I definitely recommend this book for any vampire-book-skeptics, it's a great way to ease your way into the world of weirdness!
Exciting, suspenseful story and lots of action, right from page 1. Hard to put down because you want to see what happens next. At the end of the book, I was disappointed because I wanted to keep reading more of the story and it ended!!! Will definitely read book 2 and 3 when they come out. Loved all the characters. Reed sounds like a typical, normal teenager until all the horror happens. Liked the characters, especially Nathaniel and Sarah, Sophie and even the King..... at first. The Queen sounds very creepy right from the start. Won't give any more away so you can enjoy reading it yourself. Definitely a FIVE STAR RATING.
